Dr. Katherina von Dichter
My research focuses on convex geometry, specifically on understanding how convex shapes relate to each other through geometric inequalities and mixed volumes. Mixed volumes play a key role in information theory, for example, in analyzing error-correcting codes, where they help measure how efficiently data can be packed and transmitted with minimal loss. This PNB position allows me to collaborate with leading experts, access valuable resources, and develop new mathematical tools that could improve optimization techniques in probability, data science, and communication systems.
For the future I am planning to continue my research in algorithmic mathematics, focusing on geometric inequalities, mixed volumes, and their applications in probability theory and information theory. My goal is to secure an academic position where I can further develop these concepts eventually contributing to theoretical advancements as well as investigating practical applications in areas like signal processing and error-correcting codes.
